Rather than flying straight home after your safari, you have the option to fly onward to Zanzibar Island. Come explore Zanzibar Island, just off the coast of Tanzania. Here you can unwind in a beautiful, white, sandy beach for a few days and swim in the warm Indian Ocean. You have the opportunity to snorkel in tropical reefs and enjoy
sandbank picnics. Perhaps visit Stone Town for a day to marvel at the mix of Swahili and Arabic architecture and barter for some souvenirs to take home. Whether you spend your time here simply relaxing and taking stock of your safari adventures or enjoying day trips and water sports is entirely up to you.

INCLUSIONS: Onward Flight from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar, private road transfers from airport to hotel in Zanzibar, half-board basis (breakfast and dinner included) on Zanzibar, and medical evacuation insurance.

3 nights in Zanzibar

Zanzibar Island is an Indian Ocean island with warm tropical seas to swim in. Enjoy snorkeling and diving on reefs and abundant marine life including turtles and dolphins. Other watersports include kayaking, kitesurfing and stand-up paddle-boarding. The island offers a mix of African and Arabic culture and history where you can watch fishermen sail in traditional dhow and ngalawa boats . The island is also home to Stone Town, a historic UNESCO World Heritage site

White sandy beaches...

One of the first boutique lodges in Zanzibar, Matemwe Lodge is perched on a coral rock outcrop overlooking a sandy beach gently sloping into the Indian Ocean. Adjacent to the lodge, the coral reef surrounding the Mnemba Atoll offers superb diving and snorkelling. Fresh seafood, refreshing cocktails and relaxing massages are just some elements of the laid-back daily routines of Matemwe’s guests. Matemwe Lodge is made up of 12 beach chalets, all overlooking the Indian Ocean. Each of the private verandas is furnished with large hammocks and sofas, perfect for whiling away the time as the occasional dhow drifts past in the distance.

DAY 8: Today you will fly from the Serengeti to Zanzibar, a journey of approximately three and a half hours The plane may stop a few times enroute to drop off/pick up passengers. On arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met and driven by private vehicle to Matemwe Lodge in the northeast of the island. Upon arrival you will spend the rest of the afternoon unwinding in your thatch-and-stone chalet right on the ocean; snoozing in a hammock; swimming in one of the two pools or both. 

DAYS 9 AND 10: The next couple of days will be spent at Matemwe Lodge relaxing and swimming in the warm Indian Ocean. You have the option of taking a boat to the reef to snorkel or dive, kayaking along the shoreline looking for turtles, sailing in a dhow watching for dolphins or taking a picnic lunch on a remote sandbank. There are additional watersports on offer include stand-up paddle-boarding, kayaking and kitesurfing (seasonal).

DAY 11: After breakfast, you will be driven back to Zanzibar International Airport, the journey is approximately one and a half hours, where you can check-in for your international flight home.
