Set in the  Eastern Cape province, the Addo Elephant National Park is the country’s third largest national park and offers an excellent safari experience with large species of elephant, lion, buffalo, black rhino, spotted hyena, leopard, antelope, zebra and over 400 bird species. This is the only park with the “Big 7”- The Big 5 plus the Southern Right Whale and the Great White Shark off the coast of  Algoa Bay.

Dungbeetle River Lodge is your gateway to the Addo National Park. Situated only 4km from the Southern gate on the banks of the Sunday’s River where you get to relax and do some game viewing from your deck. 

Apart from Addo, there is a lot more that awaits you. Experience river activities such as safe swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing and river cruises.

Opposite the lodge is the famous Alexndria dune field, a hikers paradise and popular for dune sledding, sand boarding, dune hikes and beach walks

COVID-19 is a virus that has taken us all by surprise. New protocols had to be developed that are fitting for the cause. There is no existing blueprint to guide us thus we have to adapt. All our efforts to comply have meant that a few changes had to be made for the health and safety of you our guest, their families and also that of our staff.

  • Reception​ Hands-free sanitizing stations are being installed at the reception entrance. Thermal scanning will be done upon arrival. No entry without a face mask.
  • Communal Area-Hands free sanitizing stations are being installed where needed. No entry without a face mask. No bare feet allowed.
  • Check-in / Check-out – On-line forms will be sent to your e-mail to be completed and re-send back to us before the arrival date. The form will be in your specific accommodation just to be signed. Thermal scanning will be done on check-in and check-out dates. Check-out will be arranged upon arrival to suit protocol needs.
  • Accommodation & Activities – Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. In each accommodation, there will be a 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer to be used during your stay with us. Game drives will have similar protocols to be adhered to.

Wash your hands regularly with soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unsanitized hands. Avoid close contact with people and keep a safe distance. Cover your cough or sneeze with a flexed elbow or tissue, then throw the tissue in the bin. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. If anything is unclear, please visit reception.
