Take a long break in your own car to discover what your own country and your neighbor’s in Namibia have to offer. A country rich in natural and cultural heritage and diverse beauty is what awaits you. 

This tour focuses mainly on the National Parks. You can start this tour from Cape Town, Johannesburg or Upington. Your first overnight stop is Augrabies Falls. From here you cross over into Namibia, to the Richtersveld Transfrontier Park to view the Fish River Canyon. The next stop is Sossusvlei; Sesriem. Up along the Skeleton Coast to Kaokoland and Twyfelfontein, then traveling to Etosha National Park. From Etosha, you travel south towards stopover in Stampriet (Kalahari) before crossing the border into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

For this tour, you would need to use your own vehicle. (feel free to ask about a rental car price, should you need it) and is priced on special discounted rates for SADC Nationals.

This morning you will be transferred from Namib Desert Lodge to the sister lodge where you have the option to sleep under the stars.

Escape from the world. A transfer leads you into a vast desert wilderness to 9 wooden cabins. After checking in an optional guided hike is offered to explore the area. As soon as the dunes have transformed to gold and the distant mountains glow purple, it’s time to wheel beds onto balconies. Enjoy a night under the glittering sky of the Namib. Ravishing Red Kalahari dunes

Take the road from Etosha and head for the Kalahari Anib Lodge which lies like a lush green oasis in the midst of red Kalahari dunes.

The restaurant and chalets are arranged around a shaded courtyard with a large swimming pool. 36 rooms with a private veranda are available for tour groups. For individual travellers there are 19 rooms, set slightly apart, with views of the open savannah and with a separate swimming pool. Located about 30 km northeast of Mariental the lodge makes for a perfect stopover on the way south.

Giraffes at Mata Mata

Today is your last wake-up call in Namibia. Take the road to the Mata-Mata border post where you will cross into South Africa, directly into the Kgalagadi National Park. 

The stark, beautiful Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park offers three camps and your first night is spent at Mata Mata Rest Camp.

Mata Mata on the banks of the Auob River. Surrounded by Kalahari dune bushveld, the camp has a reception, shop and fuel facilities. Also at the camp is a hide overlooking a water hole, attracting various animals of the Kgalagadi. Expect to see many a giraffe here.

Your last night under Kgalagadi skies

Head to towards the exit of the park, where you will spend your last night in Kgalagadi at the wondrous Twee Rivieren Rest Camp. 

The campsite, which is the park’s largest camp and administrative headquarters, occupies an impressive position on the dry Nossob river bed. The property boasts campsites, tented camps, and self-catering options, with the capacity to sleep around 288 guests. Additionally, there is 24-hour electricity and cell phone reception. The nearby Twee Rivieren has a reception, a shop, fuel, a restaurant, information centre and swimming pool.

Back in the Green Kalahari

End your stay with a last night in the town of Upington before you take the road home.

Three Gables Guesthouse is a charming old house with a balcony overlooking a vast garden and a sparkling circular pool. The leafy garden is covered in the shade of huge poplar trees and features a 32 seat solid long-table. Rooms are tastefully decorated and all are en suite each with a private entrance. All our rooms are equipped with a corner bath and shower. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning/ heating, fridge, microwave, coffee/tea making facilities, a TV, hair dryer and work desk.
