Depending on your interaction with us, we may collect names, contact details, nationality, travel dates, group composition, preferences, passport and visa details, emergency contact details, payment confirmation records, enquiry correspondence and information required by travel suppliers. We may also collect website usage, device and cookie information where our website tools do so.
We use information to respond to enquiries; prepare tailored itineraries and quotations; arrange bookings, payments and travel support; communicate operational changes; meet legal and accounting obligations; prevent fraud; and, where lawful, send marketing communications. We will identify an appropriate legal basis for each activity under applicable data protection law.
Some trips require health, dietary, accessibility or children's travel information. We seek only what is necessary for travel arrangements, apply appropriate safeguards and obtain required authority or consent where applicable.
To arrange travel, information may be shared with accommodation providers, airlines, charter operators, guides, ground handlers, park authorities, payment providers, insurers and technology service providers. Sharing is limited to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
Travel services may require personal information to be transferred to destinations and providers outside South Africa. We will use appropriate safeguards and meet the requirements of POPIA and any other applicable data protection law for international transfers.
Map2Africa may send newsletters, offers and travel inspiration where permitted by law. You can opt out of direct marketing by simply emailing us on info@map2africa.com to pause all newsletters. Transactional booking messages and necessary direct communication emailers occur.
Map2Africa and authorised travel partners may capture travel photographs and videos for potential promotional use, subject to lawful permissions. Independently created traveller content may be requested for marketing use; publicly posted content may be shared through permitted native platform functions. Photography and video captured during trips may be used for marketing only where Map2Africa has the necessary intellectual property rights and a lawful basis for use of identifiable individuals. Additional permissions may be needed for children, sensitive contexts or particular advertising uses. The Booking Terms and any separate consent mechanism should be consistent with this policy.
The website may use essential cookies and, if enabled, analytics or advertising technologies.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, misuse and disclosure. Access to travel records is limited according to business need, and service providers are expected to handle shared data appropriately.
Map2Africa maintains ongoing client records, including booking histories, travel itineraries, correspondence, travel preferences and transaction records, to support customer relationships, future travel arrangements, business administration and applicable legal obligations. Client records are not routinely deleted when a trip ends. We retain personal information while a lawful retention purpose exists and review retention where required by applicable law. Where information can no longer lawfully be retained, we will delete, destroy or de-identify it as required by POPIA, subject to any applicable exceptions.
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where consent is the basis, and request deletion where permitted. Contact info@map2africa.com. You may also raise concerns with South Africa's Information Regulator.
External sites and service providers may operate their own privacy notices. We may revise this policy when our practices or legal requirements change.
Send privacy and personal-information requests to info@map2africa.com.
